Links to sites by friends

Most of my friends don't have websites, but a few do. I can vouch that each person listed on this page has been capable of incredible depravity (emotional and physical) along with touching vulnerability and thoughfulness. Many are married, but some are not. If you want to know one way or the other send me an e-mail message and I'll clue you in as long as you seem like a decent person.

Friends since the 1970s

Paul Bonine - a zealot about the weather, plants, world peace, and the destruction of his enemies. He co-runs a wholesale nursery called Viva Plants. He has also done consulting for NPR, various newspapers, radio, and television. Paul has also authored many magazine and journal articles for gardening publications.

Tiffany Brown - a freelance writer with an insane breadth of experience making appearances in Mondo 2000, Wired, Willamette Week, Time, and others over the years. She updates her blog regularly relating to current events, technology, her artistic projects, and odd interests all with a keen sense of humor. She has also worked on an unholy alliance between Compaq computers and musician Sting, but you didn't read about that from me.

Friends since the 1980s

Angela Gass - has a website for Angela Gass Photography with interesting amateur photography of landscapes, objects, drag queens in Eugene, and angry people. She grew up in the same strange rural area outside Eugene as me, Paul Bonine, and Tiffany Brown. Her photos do the best job of any of the sites at indicating how strange it is out there.

Seth Paskin - a friend from college and beyond. Originator of the appropriate but senseless "I'm not saying, I'm just saying." His home page has the most expansive biography among my friends, but he hasn't updated it for years. Seth, you're letting your cyberstalkers down, and we are very angry.

Robert Schuessler - another friend from college. I blink my eyes and he's living in another country. Me? I've never had a passport, and have grown up in Oregon but have never been to Canada. Look at Robert's website for wild number of candid photos taken in a variety of locales. The effect is like going through a flip book made from an early Duran Duran video mixed with a lot of visits to bars and restaurants. As young men we had plans to become costumed vigilantes of the night, but got lazy. The time for our mid-life crises approaches, however, so evil-doers: watch your ass!

Alex West - a person I worked with from 1989-1995 at a summer program for talented and gifted students. Alex's website is frequently updated, but it's hard to tell sometimes. A throughly decent fellow, even if he accidentally broke my home stereo CD player.

Friends since the 1990s

Joel Hansen - Joel and I started work for a bozo corporation on the very same day. The only thing I have for Joel is the link to the band he left several years ago. Obviously the members are in deep denial about his departure. He's a musician by night (and early day) and Business Analyst and SQL expert during the morning and a chunk of the afternoon. Joel, please get a current page for yourself or I'll have to write one for you!

Ken Hoyt - The most comely person on this page, and by golly, a true-life local media figure. He's a Style advisor (Lifestylist?) who teaches classes, designs parties, writes restaurant reviews and advises businesses and individuals on bringing elegant style to their environments. His work is similar to Martha Stewart's except with genuine warmth and compassion for others replacing Martha's Type-A chilling evil. Ken's website tidily sums things up on a professional level, and on a personal level his ability to tolerate the total absence of style in every aspect of my life testifies to his greatness.

Jon Smith - Probably the most mild-mannered of my friends, but without question the person most likely to eventually lose his marbles. His sense of aesthetics is very sharp, so expect the event to make national headlines when it happens. His web homebase is HoleMoon.Com. By far the most sophisticated among my friends' websites. Viewing the site requires Shockwave. Take a look at his poetry for a sense of the man behind the Flash.

Friends since the 2000s

I have not made any new friends this century. While efforts continue, my refusal to compromise my hygienic beliefs is proving a barrier.
